What may be surprising to some is that Ubisoft doesn’t only plan on providing a solid amount of games for the Wii U, but they intend on being the “number one third-party” on the system.

During an interview with Gamasutra, Ubisoft’s SVP of sales and marketing, Tony Key, confirmed that Nintendo’s new console won’t be short on support from his company. With games like Assassin’s Creed 3, Ghost Recon Online, and Killer Freaks From Outer Space all currently confirmed to be in development for the Wii U, there’s no doubt that Nintendo’s new console will abound with Ubisoft-produced entertainment. However, Ubi has much larger goals than just providing content for the next-gen system.

Furthermore, Key confirmed that Ubi can credit their “close relationship with Nintendo” for getting the Wii U dev kits earlier than a few other unnamed developers — allowing Ubisoft’s studios to churn out content in a timely manner.

With E3 2012 quickly approaching, details on the Wii U are only two months away, so hopefully all of our questions will be answered very soon. It’ll be interesting to see everything Ubisoft has been hard at work on, as one would assume that they’ve got more up their sleeves then is currently known to be in development.

What Ubisoft games would you like to see developed for Wii U?
