Cilic really faded hard against him in the Wimbledon final, but the ‘14 U.S. Open champion is the best bet to play spoiler in Flushing Meadows. Nadal and Murray are too inconsistent to trust to go all the way on the hardcourts.

Prediction: Halep got the worst possible first-round matchup against unseeded Maria Sharapova, who is listed at 9-1. Muguruza has yet to advance past the second round a tthe U.S. Open. Venus Williams was extended a bit at Wimbeldon. Kerber is a good defending champ and can win again, but go with Konta to have her overdue major breakthrough after a strong summer.
