With Ubisoft Montreal currently hard at work on Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Rainbow Six: Siege (among others), the publisher confirmed today that Ubisoft Quebec - located less than three hours away in Quebec City - will be the lead developer on a future (not necessarily the next) entry in the core Assassin’s Creed franchise, officially sharing the task of ushering the series into a new generation of consoles. The movement and shared responsibility of top talent within Ubisoft has been long-documented, with the creative director of AC3 Alex Hutchinson now leading the charge on Far Cry 4....

This isn’t the start of Ubisoft’s stock troubles, as the company has had a tumultuous year as the market responded to both The Division 2 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint’s launches and sales. Leading up to The Division 2’s launch, Ubisoft’s stock climbed from below $15 to above $18. This dropped to around $16 following Ubisoft’s full-year fiscal reporting for 2018-2019 on May 15, despite strong sales growth. This price stabilized with the help of Watch Dogs Legion’s announcement in June....

Now that the aforementioned month has come to an end, Ubisoft has taken to Twitter to post that the next batch of Rainbow Six Siege DLC is finally inbound, albeit a little behind schedule. The tweet, posted below, fittingly contains some Japanese text which translates into “Time Has Come,” and features a raven on a bloody background. It’s expected the raven will play into the Operation name when it is revealed, presumably soon....

A spokesperson for the U.S.-led coalition against the hardline Sunni Islamic State militant group (ISIS) told Newsweek on Monday that the multinational group “is re-positioning troops from a few smaller bases” in Iraq. The spokesperson credited “the success of Iraqi Security Forces in their fight against ISIS” and said these bases “remain under Iraqi control and we will continue our advising partnership for the permanent defeat of Daesh from other Iraqi military bases....

In a recent article published by The Financial Times, graphs show the time progression in number of deaths for different countries, beginning from the point that each country reported its tenth death. According to the graphs, the U.S. reported over 1,300 deaths in the 20 days since marking its tenth fatality. At the same 20-day benchmark, China reported around 1,000 deaths. The graphs also show that the United States’ death toll curve will continue to increase in the coming weeks, whereas fatalities in China have begun to slow....

Reconnaissance flights carried out jointly by the U.S. Air Force, Navy and Army now average three to five times a day, totaling more than 1,500 a year, according to the South China Sea Strategic Situation Probing Initiative (SCSPI). The Beijing-based research institute was established in April last year and tracks vessel and aircraft activity using open-source commercial data. Abnormal increase in frequency U.S. spying activities in the Yellow Sea, as well as the East and South China Seas, have been “steadily rising” since President Obama’s tenure in the Oval Office, a spokesperson said, noting “an abnormal increase in frequency” in recent years....

Local radio station Radio Mosaique was among the first to report Friday’s attack, in which a suicide bomber on a moped blew himself up near a police car outside the American embassy.
