But amongst these crises, open-world shooter Far Cry 4 managed to do just fine. Admittedly there were some problems with the PS3 version of the game but for the most part Far Cry 4 was reviewed well by critics and gamers alike. Further information about the project has done nothing to dull enthusiasm, with publisher Ubisoft continuing to reveal more finite details about The Division. Most recently, the publisher discussed the way in which player bases will work in the disease-ridden city, whilst the game’s PvP mechanics have also been discussed, with ‘Dark Mode’ sections for optional player on player combat. Ubisoft is certainly being ambitious with the title - although some would-be players may be a little concerned that development could be spread too thin over too many ideas....

One such company is Ubisoft Massive, the developers known for The Division as well as the recently revealed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Interestingly, it was revealed that it was because of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora that Disney trusted the studio to make its own Star Wars game. While it remains to be seen what Ubisoft Massive’s Star Wars game will look like, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and the Star Wars project do share some common features....

Speaking to Chinese language publication Gamersky, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot explained that the company is developing a “new type of experiences, but more on different devices” to what fans may be expecting. Guillemot also said that the company is “working a lot on the brand today to come back at one point” and although he can’t say when Splinter Cell will be making a return because these things take time, Ubisoft is looking for the right time for a “big” comeback for the series....

One civilian contractor died in the rocket attack, while an American soldier and several American contractors were wounded. The strike destroyed an accommodation area near the Erbil International Airport, a major base in semi-autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan. According to The Hill some of the wounds among U.S. contractors were serious enough to require surgery. The White House said it was “outraged” by the attack, which was claimed by the Iraqi Shi’ite militia known as The Guardians of the Blood Brigade, an Iran-backed group which has launched attacks on U....

The virus, which was first reported in Wuhan, a city in China’s Hubei province, has infected over 766,300 people globally across 177 countries and regions. More than 160,000 have recovered from infection, while over 36,800 have died. Around 82,200 people have been confirmed to be infected in China, nearly 76,000 of whom have recovered, while more than 3,300 have died. The U.S. is now the new epicenter of the outbreak, with its total confirmed cases nearly doubling that of China and surpassing Italy, which has more than 101,700 cases, including 11,591 deaths (the world’s highest death toll so far)....

As U.S. evacuation efforts in Afghanistan were underway during its final days, Javed Habibi was getting phone calls from the U.S. government telling him not to worry and that his wife and four daughters would be evacuated. However, Habibi remains in Kabul along with hundreds of U.S. citizens and green card holders after the last evacuation flight departed from Afghanistan. “What does this green card even mean? Nothing. They did nothing,” said Habibi, who is an electrician....

The increasing job openings point to a recovering economy following last year’s COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns. However, there is a gap between job openings and the amount of workers filling those jobs. In June, 6.7 million were hired by employers compared to 6 million in May where there were 9.5 million new job openings. “Our labor force is healing, our economy is reopening, and people are getting back to work, but we still have a way to go,” said U....

The funds would be part of a new $2 billion-plus aid package to Ukraine and its allies that has been proposed by U.S. officials. In a statement on Thursday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the funds would be provided to 18 nations that neighbor Ukraine. He also said that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has placed an array of military units in the U.S. on a “heightened preparedness” to be deployed. In a move that is likely to make waves in the region, General Erik Kurilla boarded USS West Virginia for about eight hours on Wednesday at an undisclosed location in international waters. The vessel is one of the U.S. Navy’s Ohio Class, long-range submarines which as part of the country’s nuclear triad, can launch nuclear missile strikes. One of six ballistic-missile submarines stationed at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia, USS West Virginia can carry up to 20 submarine-launched ballistic missiles with multiple warheads....
