Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood took to the Ubisoft E3 2018 stage to show off Transference, which is being developed by Ubisoft’s Montreal studio in partnership with Wood’s film production company Spectrevision. The new trailer, which can be watched below, showcases how Transference blends both movies and video games to create a classic horror effect with modern VR technology. Though it was mentioned that Transference will be playable without VR, Ubisoft continues to show support for VR as the market continues to grow....

The publisher will now be thankful to have a bit of extra good news to alongside the positive reception of Far Cry 4. It’s been revealed that Child of Light has turned a profit. Child of Light was an experiment from the publisher in smaller-scale development, with an emphasis on creative ideas. The game, described as an “interactive poem,” was the brainchild of Far Cry 3’s Creative Directer Patrick Plourde....

The rise in consumer prices in May, which the Labor Department reported Thursday, reflected an array of goods and services now in growing demand as people increasingly shop, travel, dine out and attend events in a rapidly reopening economy. The increases coincide with a shortage of lumber, steel, chemicals and semiconductors that supply such key products as cars and computer equipment, which has raised prices. Brian Bukle, 61, filed the suit in federal court along with the ACLU of Northern California and the Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Asian Law Caucus. It alleges that after Bukle served a prison sentence in California, he was held in the Mesa Verde Detention Facility in Central California for over a month before his citizenship status was verified. According to The Fresno Bee, Bukle and his brother repeatedly told the immigration agents that he was a naturalized citizen, but their pleas were ignored....

The development comes amid media reports and statements from Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen suggesting that a small contingent of U.S. forces were already present on the self-ruling island, stirring anger from Beijing, which claims Taiwan as part of its territory. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said his department is temporarily relocating its operations to the western part of Ukraine “due to the dramatic acceleration in the buildup of Russian forces.” He added, “These prudent precautions in no way undermine our support for or our commitment to Ukraine. Our commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is unwavering.” The move comes as U.S. officials have warned that more than 100,000 Russian troops have amassed on the eastern border of Ukraine and that an invasion could happen as soon as Wednesday....

The Labor Department said the number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits rose to 419,000 last week, up from 368,000 the previous week. The weekly number of first-time applications topped at 900,000 in early January, but has been falling steadily. In the last week of May, 14.8 million Americans were receiving some form of jobless benefit, a number which has since dropped. During the week ending July 3, which is the latest week for which data is available, the number of people receiving benefits dropped to 12....

Hudson-Odoi scored the opening goal five minutes into kick-off before Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho settled the result with two goals after the restart. Manchester United starlet Angel Gomes, who replaced Hudson-Odoi in the second half, added a beautiful fourth through a free-kick to provide the finishing touch to England’s dominance against Chile....
